Sustainability Impact Calculator (SIC) estimates are based on the systematic life cycle assessment (LCA) described in “Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of Naturally-Sourced and Petroleum-Based Glycols Commonly Used in Personal Care Products” by Pacheco & Huston. The LCA was performed using standard methods and procedures specified by ISO 14044-2006. The model was created using the GaBi 8 software system for life cycle engineering and underwent independent peer review. The SIC estimates impact on sustainability from use of Geno’s Brontide butylene glycol compared to petroleum-based alternatives and should not be used to assess other bio-based butylene glycols. The SIC provides values for comparison purposes. Expected impact and actual results may vary depending on the specific production processes used.
